# Backup locally saved data

In this article we explain how to save your data when you have disabled Incogniton’s cloud saving function. We highly recommend using the cloud saving function instead of local storage - your data will be much safer and you avoid the risk of losing it.

If you still wish to save your data locally, periodically back up the browser profile data. This guide shows how.

### Locate the local data

Go to **Home** and click on **Open Incogniton data directory**. A file explorer window will open. Open the folder named **Config**.

{% endstep %}

### Back up the profile data

You will see all the data from your browser profiles. Copy this data and save it somewhere else - that becomes your backup. Repeat this periodically to avoid data loss when not using cloud saving.

You can also restore a local backup for a specific browser profile:

* Open the browser profile overview
* Click the 3-bullet icon for the relevant profile
* Choose **Restore local profile back up**
  {% endhint %}
  {% endstep %}
  {% endstepper %}
