# Assign tags to profiles

Tags are labels you apply to profiles to organize and filter them. Unlike groups, a profile can have multiple tags at the same time. Each tag has a name, a color, and an optional icon.

### Create and add a tag to a profile

The **Add tags** dialog displays all existing tags and allows you to create new ones. Follow the steps below to apply tags:

1. In the profile list, click the three-dot (⋮) menu on the profile you want to tag.
2. Click **Add tag**.
3. In the **Add tags** dialog, select one or more tags from the list.
4. If the tag you need doesn't exist yet, use the **Create new tag** section in the dialog to enter a tag name, choose a color and optional icon, then click **+ Add**. The new tag is added to the list immediately and can be applied to the profile.
5. Click **Apply** to add the selected tags to the profile.

You can also click **Add a tag** in the **Tags** column for profiles that don't currently have any tags to open the same dialog.

### Add tags to multiple profiles at once

To apply the same tag to several profiles at once, first select the profiles, then use the action bar.

1. Select the profiles you want to tag by clicking their checkboxes.
2. In the action bar at the bottom of the screen, click the **More actions** icon.
3. Select **Add tag**.
4. In the **Add tags** dialog, select one or more existing tags, or create a new tag.
5. Click **Apply**.

The selected tags are applied to all chosen profiles in one step. Profiles that already have the tag are unaffected.

### Edit a tag

Editing a tag updates it across all profiles it has been applied to.

1. Open the **Add tags** dialog from any profile's three-dot menu.
2. Click the pencil icon next to the tag you want to edit.
3. Update the name, color, or icon as needed.
4. Click **Save**.

The updated tag name and appearance reflect immediately across all profiles it has been applied to.

### Remove a tag from a profile

Removing a tag from a profile does not delete the tag itself. It remains available for other profiles.

1. In the profile list, click the three-dot menu on the profile.
2. Click **Edit** to open the Edit profile panel.
3. Click **Add / edit tags**. The tags dialog pops-up.
4. **Deselect the tag** you want to remove.
5. Click **Apply** to save the change.

### Delete a tag

Deleting a tag removes it permanently from all profiles it has been applied to.

1. Open the **Add tags** dialog from any profile's three-dot menu.
2. Click the trash icon next to the tag you want to delete.
3. Confirm the deletion.

This action cannot be undone. If you only want to remove the tag from a specific profile, use **Remove a tag from a profile** instead.

### Search or filter profiles by tag

You can use the search bar to find profiles by tag name. Enter a tag name in the search field and the results include any profile with a matching tag applied. For example, searching for the keyword "personal" returns all profiles with the tag, alongside any profiles whose names contain that term.

You can also filter by tag more precisely using the **Filter** button in the top right. Select one or more tags from the **Tags** section in the Filters panel, and combine them with group, status, or date filters in the same session.
