How to test your proxy via FireFox browser and Foxyproxy

In some cases your proxy may not work. This article shows how to test a proxy using the Firefox browser and the FoxyProxy extension to determine the source of the problem.

Install Firefox

Install Firefox, if you don't already have. Download it from this link.

Install FoxyProxy extension

Install the FoxyProxy extension for Firefox through this link.

Open FoxyProxy

Click the FoxyProxy icon at the far right of the Firefox toolbar to open the extension.

Add your proxy details

Click Add inside the FoxyProxy extension. In the new window, enter:

• Proxy Type

• Proxy IP

• Port

• Username (if applicable)

• Password (if applicable)

Give the proxy a name, then click Save.

Activate the proxy

Select the proxy from the FoxyProxy drop-down menu and activate it.

Validate the proxy

Browse to a site such as http://www.whoer.net to check whether the proxy is working. This will indicate whether your IP/proxy is working or not.

Get in touch with proxy supplier

If the proxy you purchased does not work, report the issue to the proxy supplier. They may provide support or replace the proxy.
