Proxy displays wrong location

Proxy validation with main provider and back up provider

Sometimes a proxy connects successfully when you run a check, but the location shown does not match where the proxy is supposed to be.

If you have not run a check yet, see Check and add in the Attach external proxy guide.

This is not a broken proxy issue. Incogniton validates proxy geolocation against IPstack by default, and that data can occasionally be incorrect due to a vendor data issue or a database error on IPstack's side.

To resolve this, switch to a Backup provider:

  1. Open the proxy's settings, either from the profile's Proxy tab or from Proxy Library.

  2. Find the Proxy provider dropdown.

  3. Switch it from Main provider to Backup provider or Second backup provider.

  4. Run the check again to confirm the location now resolves correctly.

This re-validates the same proxy against a different geolocation database without changing anything else about the connection.

If you still have any questions or face further issues about proxy validation, don’t hesitate to contact our support team.
