How to edit navigator settings of a browser profile

In this article we will give you some guidance how you can edit the Navigator settings of a browser profile. First of all, we will give a brief introduction to what exactly the navigator settings are and from where they arise.

The Navigator settings of a browser profile are based on Javascript and contain specific features that show how the computer is configured. For example, these include the operating system (Windows / Mac), the computer brand and screen resolution. Based on this information websites that are browsed by a user will see that a certain user has a certain set of parameters. On the basis of this information, a website then generates a user profile and the website detects the user as a unique user.

How to edit the User-Agent

1

Create or open a browser profile

Start with creating a new browser profile or editing an existing one.

2

Select operating system

Select which operating system you would like to use in Overview.

3

Open Navigator

Next, click on Navigator to edit the User-Agent.

4

Disable automatic latest user agent

Based on the platform settings a website can determine your operating system. Screen resolution

Another part of the navigator settings of a browser profile is the screen resolution. Please note that it is really important that the actual resolution is not bigger than the set resolution. Websites analyze the screen resolution, and if it turns out to be different, this is a signal that certain tools may be used to protect the privacy of users.

For a fresh created browser profile, the standard screen resolution is used which is set in My Account. However, as a user you can also choose to adjust the screen resolution for a browser profile in Incogniton. You can do this by clicking the dropdown menu and then selecting the desired resolution.

After you have selected the desired screen resolution, this means that the screen of the browser does not become larger than the selected resolution. If you are not satisfied with the desired resolution, you can of course adjust it to a different resolution.

Do-not-track setting

The next navigator setting that you can adjust as a user is the ‘Do not track’ setting. This setting signals to websites to not track you. This setting is disabled by default for a standard browser profile. We recommend deviating from this as little as possible and keeping the default setting.

Hardware concurrency

The hardware concurrency setting is a navigator parameter that shows the number of CPU processors that are available on a computer of a user. When you decide to change these parameters you can use the following values in Incogniton: 2, 4, 6, 8 and 16.

Language settings

Based on the language settings of a browser profile, websites will adapt the language proposed to the user. Just like the other navigator settings, the language setting also contributes to the creation of the browser fingerprint. In Incogniton, the preferred language is adjusted by default based on the geolocation of the proxy that is used.

Of course, the preferred language can also be adjusted, but we advise you as a user not to deviate too much from the standard language settings. For a website, this can be a signal that there are inconsistencies in the browser fingerprints.

Extra settings

Besides the navigator settings, there are several other settings you can customize in your browser profiles. Please note that it is not necessary to configure this because these settings are already filled in by Incogniton based on the proxy information and the automatically generated fingerprint. However, if you’re not satisfied with the standard configuration, you can customize the browser fingerprint configuration yourself.

Automatically filled in based on the proxy information, but you can choose a different timezone yourself.

The WebRTC setting prevents your browser from bypassing your proxy to leak your legit IP address. It’s automatically set to Altered. If you want you can change this to Real then your real IP will be used for WebRTC. You can also turn off WebRTC or use the WebRTC from the proxy.

chevron-rightGeolocationhashtag

This setting can be used to change your Geolocation – it is usually filled in based on the proxy details. However, if you want to you can customize this yourself.

chevron-rightExtensionshashtag

This setting allows you to add webstore extensions or custom extensions to your browser profile.

You can decide whether you want to enable or disable font masking in this tab. It’s default setting is for it to be enabled.

chevron-rightMedia deviceshashtag

On this tab you can alter the media device configuration of the browser profile. Please note, if you want to use your camera in an Incogniton browser profile you need to turn media device masking off.

chevron-rightDNShashtag

On this tab you can configure a custom DNS (Domain Name System), it’s regularly disabled.

On this tab you can configure the following settings:

  • Active session lock: If you want to prevent that your browser profile can be opened at multiple devices at the same time you need to enable this setting. This will prevent syncing errors of browser profiles.

  • Show profile name in browser: With this the name of the browser profile is visible in the URL bar. When you have a lot of browser profiles opened at the same time it will be easier to select the right browser profile

  • Use the navigator language for the browser language: With this enabled the navigator settings from the tab Navigator will be used for the browser profile. However, you can also decide to disable this and then the navigator settings of your actual device will be used.

  • Add custom Chrome arguments: When you enable this you can add custom chrome arguments.

  • Allow the Incogniton browser to access the webcam: This setting enables websites to use the webcam.

  • Try to pass Iphey.com check: This setting will force Incogniton to disable or change certain features which will help with passing the iphey.com legitimacy check.

  • Do not show Chrome settings: This means the chrome settings will be hided in your browser profile.
